If They Believe, Then Greater Things Will Be Made Manifest

3 Nephi 26:6–12
If They Believe, Then Greater Things Will Be Made Manifest
President Spencer W. Kimball (1895–1985) taught that before obtaining greater manifestations or additional scripture we must read and believe what has already been revealed:

“I have had many people ask me through the years,

‘When do you think we will get the balance of the Book of Mormon records?’

"And I have said, ‘How many in the congregation would like to read the sealed portion of the plates?’ And almost always there is a 100-percent response.

"And then I ask the same congregation, ‘How many of you have read the part that has been opened to us?’ And there are many who have not read the Book of Mormon, the unsealed portion.

"We are quite often looking for the spectacular, the unobtainable. I have found many people who want to live the higher laws when they do not live the lower laws” (The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, ed. Edward L. Kimball [1982], 531–32).

3 Nephi 26:6–12
6 And now there cannot be written in this book even a hundredth part of the things which Jesus did truly teach unto the people;

7 But behold the plates of Nephi do contain the more part of the things which he taught the people.

8 And these things have I written, which are a lesser part of the things which he taught the people; and I have written them to the intent that they may be brought again unto this people, from the Gentiles, according to the words which Jesus hath spoken.

9 And when they shall have received this, which is expedient that they should have first, to try their faith, and if it shall so be that they shall believe these things then shall the greater things be made manifest unto them.

10 And if it so be that they will not believe these things, then shall the greater things be withheld from them, unto their condemnation.

11 Behold, I was about to write them, all which were engraven upon the plates of Nephi, but the Lord forbade it, saying: I will try the faith of my people.

12 Therefore I, Mormon, do write the things which have been commanded me of the Lord. And now I, Mormon, make an end of my sayings, and proceed to write the things which have been commanded me.

President Oaks Oct 25, 2026 Social Media Post On the BofM

"The Book of Mormon is a great witness that the Lord loves all people and reaches out to all, everywhere.

The Book of Mormon adds to our knowledge of how our Savior’s earthly ministry reached out to all of His scattered flock.

Book of Mormon teachings contradict the erroneous assertion that the grace of God saves only a chosen few.

The Book of Mormon teaches that our Savior "inviteth ... all to come unto him" (2 Nephi 26:33). His grace is for all.

Similarly, the Book of Mormon tells us that the children of God in “every nation” have His promise that He “manifesteth himself unto all those who believe in him, by the power of the Holy Ghost” (2 Nephi 26:13).

These promises from the Book of Mormon are true.

I call upon all to act on these truths and to share them with others, that we may all draw closer to Jesus Christ, our Savior."

Camila Kimball Gives Her Husband's Talk In 1979 General Conference - A Prophecy Still In Effect Today

In the October 1979 General Conference, Camilla Eyring Kimball stood at the pulpit of the Salt Lake Tabernacle and delivered her husband’s message,
“The Role of Righteous Women”
Because his illness prevented him from attending General Conference. And asked that she give the talk in his place.

Among the words she delivered was President Spencer W. Kimball's now-famous prophecy about the role of women in the growth of the church.

36 years later, President Russell M. Nelson declared "A Plea to My Sisters."
"The day that President Kimball foresaw is today.  You are the women he foresaw"!

A prophecy given by President Kimball and spoken by Camilla in 1979 continues to be part of the conversation about what Latter-day Saint women are called to be: articulate, spiritually grounded, influential, courageous, and active in the home, community and church.

In 2015 President Nelson explicitly called women to "take your rightful and needful place" in the kingdom of god and asked them to fulfill the prophecy Camilla had helped bring to the women of the church a generation earlier.
