Camila Kimball Gives Her Husband's Talk In 1979 General Conference - A Prophecy Still In Effect Today

In the October 1979 General Conference, Camilla Eyring Kimball stood at the pulpit of the Salt Lake Tabernacle and delivered her husband’s message,
“The Role of Righteous Women”
Because his illness prevented him from attending General Conference. And asked that she give the talk in his place.

Among the words she delivered was President Spencer W. Kimball's now-famous prophecy about the role of women in the growth of the church.

36 years later, President Russell M. Nelson declared "A Plea to My Sisters."
"The day that President Kimball foresaw is today.  You are the women he foresaw"!

A prophecy given by President Kimball and spoken by Camilla in 1979 continues to be part of the conversation about what Latter-day Saint women are called to be: articulate, spiritually grounded, influential, courageous, and active in the home, community and church.

In 2015 President Nelson explicitly called women to "take your rightful and needful place" in the kingdom of god and asked them to fulfill the prophecy Camilla had helped bring to the women of the church a generation earlier.
